THE NEPHROLOGIST LORD OF OOTATHUR WHO TREATS KIDNEY PROBLEMS

Hi.............after a long time. But with a decisively useful subject.I hope who read this will share it with the people who need it most.
My close cousin's daughter who is only twenty six years old, and whom i have been seeing since her wee years had kidney failure before two years and was transplanted with her father's kidney.Hardly two years have passed and the transplanted kidney was causing so many critical problems and finally it had to be removed. Now she is again undergoing Dialysis (external cleaning of toxic materials from the body which function her  kidneys can not handle any more).
I am not able to see the wee little girl, very naughty and mischievous , who I had seen from childhood suffer like this and like many others, I am praying to my favourite deity,Saibaba of Shirdi.
Now Shirdi Saibaba is the saint god of India and millions of pilgrims flock to this place every year. And I am a great devotee of Baba. People (and me of course ) believe that he can cure the terminally ill by miracles.

I have experienced so many big and small miracles of Baba in my life and still experiencing them in my daily life. And we, Sai devotees believe that he resides in all deities and all gods of the world.
Back to our subject, I started researching through the internet since I believe that only a divine intervention can cure this girl. And my Baba led me to an article about Lord Nephrologist at Ootathur.
I felt that I was being helped by Baba himself. I have asked the parents of the little girl to this place. But it seems she is too weak till now.Pray to my Baba that she will get a bit stronger and visit this sacred place.

In front of the temple entrance, there is a board saying that kidney ailments are cured there. Our ancestors have said that the mind is a great temple, the body is also a temple.Where Gods reside if you are born and brought up in a good cultural environment. If you misuse the sacred body given to us by God,the mind and body lose their sanctity and become graveyards.
It is due to a bad lifestyle or previous bad "karma" that we get these life threatening diseases. So we must take resort to divine powers to cure them.Where medical treatment fails,God cures.........
There is a lot of positive feedback about this doctor deity.People have experienced miraculous cures here. Mainly patients with kidney problems.

Now Ootathur is 4 kilometers from Padalur in the Chennai- Thiruchi highway. Here is the sacred Siva temple. This is a very ancient temple. It is said that the Chola dynasty king Rajaraja Chola, visited this place to cure his ailments. The temple was also patronised by Chola kings.
The temple is called Suddharatneswarar temple named upon the presiding deity. The Shivling is made of a very old ruby , hence the the God is named Shuddharatneswarar or "Lord of the pure gem".The Shivji consort is Akilandeswari literally meaning "the mother of the universe".It is said that the Shivling gleams in it's original lustre when "Deepa aradhanai" or "Aarthi" is done. You can only take photographs of the Shivling from the main  entrance where the idol can be seen in line with the temple spring ,"Brahmateertham".
But our Lord Nephrologist is the "Nataraja" or the cosmic dancer (Shiva). And his consort is Mother "Sivakamy".In contrast to other temples, the idols are made of stone, not metal. The idols are made up of five types of stone, black granite or "panchanadhanam" which emits radiation and absorbs the sun's rays. When the deity is struck with a coin the sound of of divine"Om" is heard.
The lord Nephrologist

THE GODDESS SIVAKAMI

The Nataraja idol is adorned with a beautiful garland made out of "vettiver"(tamil) or "khas "(hindi). This herb is said to possess curative properties.Small clumps of Vettiver are knotted and strung into garlands with thread just as one would with jasmine or other flowers.
This is a type of grass that grows in abundance and the dried roots are used in preparing medicines. This herb is dropped into clay pots containing water and is said to cool the body.Even Google has several articles referring to the medicinal value of this herb.
The Deity Nataraja is a wonderful piece of sculpture and the intricate carvings on Him look amazing.
Goddess Sivakami stands to His left a little away. She is very beautiful too.The Kodimaram or flag staff also reaches out towards the sky through an opening in the mandapa roof.
THE KODIMARAM OR FLAG POLE

The Priest performs the pooja and  does abhishekam "mangalsnan"with water from the Brahma Theertham .The garland of Vettiver is then given to us with a can of  this water. We are supposed to soak one knot of this vettiver in a glass of  this water overnight and consume this early in the morning on empty stomach.Vettiver has medicinal properties. It is a coolant. It is supposed to help  clear urinary problems. The granite stone emits radiation.
VETTIVER OR KHAS

Those with utmost faith will see for sure that they are cured.
The "Brahmateertham" is a perennial spring whose water has curative properties. The water from the spring, the radiation from the idol transmitted to the garland and the curative properties of the vettiver itself probably lead to the cure. And faith added in a large measure.
In an architectural delight, the Nandi (vehicle and body guard of Lord Shiva),Brahmateertham and the main Shivling idol lie in a straight line, though you have to cross seven doors to reach the sanctum sanctorum.

THE NANDI BHAGWAN, BRAHMATHEERTHAM AND THE SHIVLING IN A LINE.

NANDI BHAGWAN

It is better to ring up the Priest  and inform him of our  date of arrival at the Temple, since he would adorn the Deity with the vettiver garland which would grace the Deity and be imbued with vibrations  making the garland very powerful.
The necessary things for an archanai like betel leaves, bananas, coconut etc. are available with the Priest. But we need to buy flowers or garlands, whatever we wish to, before we go here. Vilva leaves are special for the Lord and can be purchased at Trichi.
Whatever...this is yet another Temple that soothes the sick with hope and cures those who have abandoned hope in medical science. In these days of medical expenses, which are skyrocketing,Temples like this offer hope. Hope creates trust And trust creates a sense of being positive. And being positive is the best attitude a person can possess.
After all, human beings live on hope and faith.Man treats, God cures.
