DOCTOR FIRST AND FOREMOST- THE CASE OF THE LATE PREGNANCY,THE STIGMA AND UNNECESSARY DEATH.

Yesterday I had written about the horrific adventures of a lady doctor duo in a huge government hospital in my blog "DOCTOR FIRST AND FOREMOST-THE BLACK SHEEP OF OUR FAMILY "

And today by chance I heard about a very similar incident in Salem,Tamil nadu, India.

A lady almost in menopause found that she had a baby in her womb.She already had an 18 year old son.The baby in the womb was almost 8 months old.Too late to abort.

Let us go into the mind of the lady and see what thoughts were going on there.

She was aghast,she was frightened because she thought that friends and relations would tease her,think ill of her, and what will her eighteen year old son think about his mother.

Educated ladies and in an urban set up would have welcomed the baby in almost all cases.

But this was a near rural set up near Salem,India.And it was too late for abortion.So she took some country medicine to abort the baby.By eight months the baby is almost fully grown and is quite alive. But the lady did not think about those things.She simply wanted to be free of the unwanted baby.

.After trying out various illegal methods, she ultimately went to a shady set up for delivery

She went to hospital ,private or public,I do not know, for delivery of the baby. The baby was delivered by caesarean section and the baby came out dead.The operation was unwisely performed by a very junior? doctor or a quack.

PROPER STEPS OF A CAESAREAN SECTION

The baby was found dead,which probably was a relief to the mother and family.The mother was shifted to the wards.After some time blood started pouring from the wound and the patient went into shock and died.So much blood loss and they did not or were incapable of even thinking of taking her to the operation room to open up and stop the bleeding.

THE DOCTOR,IF AT ALL HE WAS A DOCTOR, WAS NOT A CAPABLE PERSON.

When my cook told me about this incident,I was immediately reminded of the Mandira and Bharathi duo mentioned in my blog yesterday.

The uterine artery in a large artery supplying the uterus.If it is damaged it is very difficult to stop the bleeding unless you are an expert. And to my trained mind,damage to the uterine artery seemed to be a plausible explanation.

UTERINE ARTERY COMES OUT OF THE LARGE INTERNAL ILIAC ARTERY, SO BLEEDING FROM IT IS TORRENTIAL AND LIFE THREATENING.

Can you imagine there are plenty of quacks or inefficient junior doctors performing caesarean sections in the rural setup ?Which is dangerous and brings about deaths...... like this lady. Then the staff and the so called doctor threatened the lady attendants present and made them take away the dead body of the lady whose bed was covered with blood.And imagine they gave blood transfusion when there was huge internal bleeding.

This sort of thing can happen only in India where the population is huge,there is heavy shortage of good doctors in the rural areas,the lack of proper infra structure and so many things..... the list goes on.

The poor ,illiterate ladies did as they were asked to .No postmortem ,no enquiries. The lady has been cremated and there is no proof against those criminals who will murder many more ladies thus.Since the body is burnt in India, by the Hindus, no DNA test or exhumation of body for investigation purposes is possible.

So the perpetrators of such a severe murder would go scot free.Nobody would come out to talk about this incident.The lady will be forgotten within a period of time. And the husband may probably marry again.

Well all because a near menopausal lady got pregnant. When will the people in such villages wake up to the fact that getting pregnant is not at all a wrong thing.If not for the fear of taunting and stigma,the lady would have delivered a healthy baby and both mother and baby would be alive now.

there are so many childless couples who would gladly have taken up the baby for adoption. But this did not happen.A woman and her baby were subjected to a horrible treatment and they are both dead now.

Who is to blame for this untimely,unwanted deaths ?The village ladies? The society? Who will counsel these people with certain fixed ideas? Not at all true.

It only struck me..........yesterday I wrote about a deadly doctor duo who were ruthless and experimenting on their patients. That was before thirty years. And this happened only yesterday in modern India.

OH GOD I FEEL VERY ASHAMED AND AWFUL. THERE IS ONLY A MINOR FACT WHICH PACIFIES ME THAT THESE WERE NOT PROPERLY TRAINED DOCTORS.
