The hospital I worked in  and the adjacent government hospital covered a huge area.Imagine a big government hospital with several buildings,a large deep pond and an adjacent hospital with a about 200 beds and housing the residences of doctors,nursing staff,quarters for the menial staff etc,etc.This vast area was actually donated by a Zamindar, name not to be mentioned. Shall we call him Raja babu from now? Zamindar comes from a persian word "Zamin" meaning land and "dar " meaning holder.So a zamindar was someone aristrocratic like a king and his subjects were farmers mainly who had to pay "kar" or tax either in form of money or as grains.The poor farmers were tortured if they could not pay or even killed and their land confiscated.Even if the farmers and their children remained hungry their grains were forcibly taken away. Besides this they owned huge tracts of land and were very rich.With the advent of the British rule,they were given titles like "

Kunti devi..............No I am not talking about the mythological character,the mother of Pandavas and Karna.That Kunti was a golden hearted woman who taught honesty and righteousness to her sons. Hi all......................My driver did not listen to me when I asked him to do a H1N1 (Swine flu) test.He was having fever for many days with cough and cold. He was rather angry why I asked him to do that test. Like it were a stigma.Maybe the main fact was fear lest he tested positive.Then he would have to be admitted in a hospital with Infectious Diseases isolation set up.And with his wife and two kids aged 3 yrs and 1 yrs would be left alone in the house.And also the H1N1 virus has left every common man thinking it is something like Cancer or Tuberculosis.Really like it were a stigma! He was very adamant that he would take medicines from the nearest government hospital and get cured.He is a good driver but very adamant and hotheaded in many matters.In this aspect he is just like the  general public. These people are afraid of advanced treatment. They have a fixed idea that if they go to a doctor,an injection and some medicines will cure them.And commonly many obliging doctors g

OH MY GOD . We must do something about this plastic menace. When I see the amount of plastic waste in the lanes and bylanes of Chennai I feel miserable.  Tamilnadu has announced that plastic will be banned from January 2019.Very good news provided it really happens.Let us pray to God earnestly that this plan will come into force bypassing all varieties of obstacles,political or otherwise. GOOD NEWS AGAIN FROM EUROPE............... It is the last straw for single-use plastic items in Europe as European Parliament officials adopted a plan Wednesday to ban such items in participating countries by 2021. The European Parliament said in a statement that plastic items like plates, cutlery, straws, cotton swabs, etc. make up more than 70 percent of the marine trash in oceans and other waterways. The parliament's new measure would also go after products made of oxo-degradable plastics, which include bags, packaging and fast food containers made from polystyrene.
