The hospital I worked in and the adjacent government hospital covered a huge area.Imagine a big government hospital with several buildings,a large deep pond and an adjacent hospital with a about 200 beds and housing the residences of doctors, nursing staff, quarters for the menial staff etc, etc. This vast area was actually donated by a Zamindar, name not to be mentioned. I bought a new landline phone and a high speed router for Akshay Trithiya. But my maid servant Rani did much more than that. She distributed salted buttermilk or Chaas to about 150 people. despite her below average income. So much charity on a terribly hot day in Chennai.God bless her. In Sanskrit, the word "Akshayya" (अक्षय्य) means "imperishable, eternal, the never diminishing" in the sense of "prosperity, hope, joy, success", while Tritiya means "third". It is named after the "third lunar day" of the spring month of Vaisakha in the Hindu calendar , the day it is observed. Akshayya Tritiya is believed in Hinduism to be the birthday of Parasurama who is the sixth incarnation of Vishnu , and he is revered in Vaishnava temples. Those who observe it i...
